Ingredients
Serves 10 to 15
All-Purpose Flour
2 cups (8 oz cup)
Baking Powder
1 teaspoon
Sugar
1 and 1/4 cups (8 oz cup)
Whole Milk
2 to 3 ounces or as required
Canola Oil
1 and a 1/4 cup (8 oz cup)
Vanilla Extract
3/4 teaspoon
Egg
3
Non-stick Oven Spray
As Required
Method
Step 1
In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour and baking powder well.
Step 2
Take another deep bowl, and add canola oil, sugar, and egg. Mix the ingredients very well by stirring with a big spoon.
Step 3
Once the canola oil, sugar, and eggs are mixed uniformly, start adding about 2 spoons of all-purpose flour-baking powder mixture to the canola oil-egg-sugar mixture. Mix them well so that there are no lumps in the mixture.
Step 4
Similarly, add all of the all-purpose flour-baking powder mixture to the canola oil-egg-sugar mixture. Mix the ingredients very well. At any point, if you find it difficult to stir the cake mixture then add some milk to make the mixture wet and smooth. This will help you stir the cake easily and make a smooth batter.
Step 5
Now, add vanilla extract and mix well.
Step 6
Preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray non-stick baking spray on a 6 inch cake pan. Make sure to follow the direction on the non-stick spray before using it.
Step 7
Pour the cake mixture into the cake pan and put it in the oven for about 30 to 40 minutes. The cooking time may slightly vary from oven to oven. To make sure that the cake is cooked completely, insert a knife or a fork in the middle of the cake to test. If the knife or fork comes out clean, your cake is ready.
Step 8
Invert the cake on a flat plate and cool it completely before serving.
